A few weeks ago Dad and I were looking at a 2014 Pathfinder (He wanted 4WD). The salesman was really nice and all and the staff was professional. We never seriously considered it but he just wanted to see it regardless.
I told him we have to get out of here... based on the music they were playing. So 80s... and then the final straw was... they played "Never Gonna Give You Up" by Rick Astley in the showroom. FUCK. Nothing is worse than being rickrolled in a showroom.
How about you, Oppo?

Every single dealership experience I've ever had except for my last one in October.

It can't get worse than that. Unless we walked out of the dealer in a new Versa or Murano Cros- ah shit I scare myself.

Most frustrating for me: after being tossed the keys to a 997, hassle free, at the Porsche dealership, being informed that "we can't let just anybody take a c6 grand sport out" at the Chevy dealership. Even though I showed up in a damn C5 Z06. The juxtaposition of the two different levels of salesmanship was what made it so extra-infuriating.

Shopping for my first car, I was looking for a Commodore SS-V. I had one priced from another dealership at $50k.
I went to my local dealer to and was confronted with a 'fully sik bro', slick backed hair, gold jewelry wearing man of ethnic persuasion who looked at me like I was some kind of leper (I was 25, wearing jorts and an AC/DC shirt, sue me, I fit the Commodore demographic).
I was told bluntly that the car would be $60k, I'd be waiting at least a month for it to show up and no, I wouldn't be able to test drive one on the lot. To which I replied I have $50k cash to do a sale right now, and that dealer X was willing to do it for that price. He laughed in my face, basically called me a liar then wished me luck.

not my experience but my cousins. He was looking at purchasing a used 911 from the local porsche dealership. He walked in and told them what he wanted. Porsche thought he was just some guy looking for a test drive since he wasn't a complete dick to everyone. They told him they were too busy to deal with him but theyd give him a call when they weren't so busy. The show room was literally empty and there were about 4 or 5 salesmen just sitting around. He ended up going to a dealer in philly, picking up a 07 turbo from them because they treated him like royalty. He ended up taking it to switzer and getting about 900 whp. He now takes it back to the local porsche dealership and making them kiss his ass while they reset all of the codes it throws. It amazing how much different he is treated now that they realize hes not a bum off the streets.

Yeah I've had a similar experience except I was 18 and... went to VW to look at a Jetta for my sister. The guy was rude. Didn't even let me discuss payments or anything, not even look at the car.
I said bye and went to the bathroom, then barged in his office while he was in a meeting with his manager and said "You forgot to give me a brochure." "I don't have any."

Decades ago, my girlfriend wanted to buy a new car. She had a Tercel budget, so we went to the local Toyota dealership. On the test drive, the salesman kept talking about the "powerful V6" under the hood.
No amount of discussing it with him would convince him that Toyota didn't make a V6 Tercel. It ended when I made him get out of the car and count the plug wires. It was a quiet drive back to the dealership. And she bought an old Caprice instead.

I traded my '08 avalanche in for a new '10 silverado. They gave me what I thought was an excellent trade in price. A couple years later I went back to look at another truck. They were great to me, why wouldn't I? They gave me the trade price on my silverado which was thousands less than the worst possible case on kbb or nada. I promptly responded with something like "What the hell?! The truck is immaculate, doesn't have a scratch, and the mileage is spot on for the year."
Their response was "well, our used car manager accidentally gave you a few thousand more than he should have a couple years ago for your avalanche."
I responded with "How is that my fault?" And left. Haven't been back.

Stopped into a Ford dealership to see the new Fiesta & wandered around the (small) lot for for 10 minutes before going inside the building. Popped my head into an office & the guy was way more interested in his egg salad sandwich than selling me a car.
Told him I wanted to check out the green one. He, basically, tossed the keys at me & told me I could take it for a test drive if I wanted.
I did, came back & had to track him down. This guy couldn't have worked hard to NOT sell me a car. Half-ass answers to my questions, no business card...nothing.
Apropos of nothing, this happened the day Ford announced the 3 cyl Ecoboost.

Wahahahah. The customer knowing more than the salesman about the car...
though I've had similar moments.

Had a couple shit experiences with my mom.
She had a CR-V and wanted to look at the Insight. I'm still not sure why. Anyway, I had nothing better to do that day so I went to the dealer with her. Test drives an Insight and a Fit, then the guy goes to check out my mom's car for the trade value.
he comes back a couple minutes later, with a severe low-ball price, saying it was an accident and the bumpers were repainted and you can tell because it was repainted wrong.
The bumpers were painted that way at the factory. It was never even in an accident. My mom told the guy to go to hell and she ended up getting an Insight from another dealer.

When the new beetle came out. I dont even know the year. I was young and I was looking at one and the salesman was trying to sell me one and I was all like
" I already have one thanks."
he was like like "what year?"
"1961" was the reply
then he says "Oh thats olds thats when they like started making them"
Epic nuclear facepalm!
WORST DEALER EXPERIENCE EVER!!!

Pretty much every time I go to a dealership. Last time though when I was trading in the guy tried telling me my car wasn't shifting gears in reverse. Lol.

Yeah. Same place that also tried explaining to me that the braking issue on the new car was probably the rotors. After I asked them to replace the rotors. No shit Sherlock. That's why I said the rotors. Sigh. I've probably replaced more pads, rotors and occasionally calipers than those sales guys.
The joys of car shopping while female.

Me and my dad were going to meet one of his buddies but he wasn't going to get off work for a hour. So we decided to go to the honda dealership and look around. Dealership guys started following us. Asked us once, we denied his friendly ask for help. We walked. They followed. Not one, but like 3. Careful of Stockton california.

The first time I ever went to a dealership for "citified repair " was a fucking nightmare. Long story short: I went in to get a master cylinder and CVs replaced and drove away with a CEL and a vacuum leak (It didn't come on until the next day). I went back and the asshole service manager shewed me away like he was a fucking mafia boss and said "I don't know what you are talking about", and "There's nothing wrong here." He tried to convince me that the CEL was on when I came in and that I told him not to even read the code, which is complete bullshit. I fixed it myself.

I stopped by the local dealer around the New Year since there was a Mini Cooper on the lot. It's a GM/Buick dealership, so seeing a Mini there was a good alternative to all the old people cars. Plus here in the middle of Northwest Ohio, you generally have to travel 75 miles or so before you start seeing any import dealers.
So I stop in and take a look see and a salesman comes up and asks if I would like to take if for a test drive. I say sure, and he runs back in and grabs the keys. We take it for a spin and get back and he tries real hard to sell me the car. I tell him no since I have my heart set on a BRZ, so he tells me to take it overnight and see if it can change my mind. I accept. I stop back in the next morning and tell him that it's still a no sale, but I appreciate the attempt, and that if they ever get something similar to the Mini, such as a sports car, in to let me know.
I get a text from the salesman two weeks later letting me know that they have a Volkswagen Eos that was just traded in, and he wanted to know if I would be interested. **FACEPALM**
